Manila: A Filipina maid's 24-years of service to her Singaporean employer was rewarded after she found herself named as one of the beneficiaries of her multi-million dollar fortune.

A 47-year-old carer is due to inherit a total of $4 million (Dh10.68 million) after she was named by her employer Quek Kai Miew as one of the beneficiaries of her estate, according to Singapore daily The Straits Times.

The millionaires Quek, a doctor and a philanthropist died last year. Her maid, identified by the report only as "Christine" in order to protect her privacy, had served the woman and her family since 1986.

The report said Christine will now inherit $6 million (Dh16.03 million) and a luxury apartment, located near the Orchard Road shopping area.

"I am the luckiest maid in Singapore, with or without the money," Christine was quoted by The Strait Times as saying.

She will now stay in Singapore while waiting approval of her permanent residence status. She said she knew she would inherit a part of her employer's fortune before the latter died, because she had informed her.

"There were no secrets between us. I was not surprised at all when she told me how much I was going to get," she said.
