Lahore: Officials say police have broken up an angry mob threatening to burn a church on Saturday after the alleged burning of a Quran in eastern Pakistan.
Saeed Wahla, administrator of Gujranwala city, said the police charged 300 protesters that were marching towards a church, infuriated over rumours that Qurans had been burned by Christians.
Nabeel Awan, a local official, said a burned copy of the Quran had been found.
Christians make up two per cent of Pakistan's population and are often intimidated and subjected to mob violence.
