Paris: French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni might have finally found something in common: they are both having affairs.

According to The Sun, rumours that both are committing adultery first emerged on Twitter. Bruni is alleged to be romantically involved with musician Benjamin Biolay, while Sarkozy has reportedly found solace in the arms of his ecology minister, Chantal Jouanno.

The relationship between Bruni and pop star Biolay, who is six years her junior, is apparently so intense that she has unofficially moved into his flat in Paris.

The 55-year-old French president meanwhile is said to be romancing his 40-year-old ecology minister, who also happens to be a karate champion.

The Daily Mail speculated that the couple's marriage would last only as long as Sarkozy remained in power.

The rumours gained momentum on Tuesday after they appeared on the website of leading French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche.

The paper commented: “A romance is said to have started a few weeks ago between the First Lady of France and music award-winner Benjamin Biolay,” and added that the presidential marriage was “breathing its last breaths. Carla Bruni is in love with Benjamin Biolay and the president has found solace with Chantal Jouanno”.

A report on TV i-Tele after Jouanno’s latest karate victory concluded with the comment: “It’s not known whether Nicolas Sarkozy has had time to congratulate his Secretary of State for Ecology.”

Sarkozy and Bruni married three months after meeting in November 2007. She once said she is “easily bored by monogamy” and her previous lovers include Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton and Donald Trump.

Sarkozy is reported to have had an affair with the woman who became his second wife while married to the mother of his two sons.

its not very surprising that they are both having seperate affairs, the world is a place where all govenments encourage it . The working hours are as such that people do not have time for their families. People are forced with unwanted thoughts.

love cant be forced and neither banned, nor dress codes would change that. the rumours are hard to believe, but when they already name the parties, more difficult to dismiss (fully)... i found them a very attractive couple, adoring each other, most photogenic of all presidents... but its not acceptable to compromise him, he's the french president... love or not, some respect she could show...
