Jaipur: Nine Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) officials, including general manager Gautam Ghosh and chief operation manager Rajesh Kumar Syal, were charged with negligence in the case of a major fire at Jaipur's Sitapura depot in October last year in which 12 people were killed.

It took 10 days to extinguish the fire which was one of the most devastating fire in the history of Indian oil industry.

The charge sheet against the officials were submitted in Sanganer court on Friday. The charge sheet was submitted against the officials after a complaint was lodged against the IOC by a manager of an industrial unit Prithipal Singh.

The manager of the industrial unit in his complaint said that his company suffered immense damage because of the fire as the unit was located near the oil depot.

The company manager in his first information report said that his company suffered damages worth several millions because of the fire that was caused because of the negligence of the officials.

IG of police of Jaipur zone BL Soni said that the charge sheet was submitted in the court against the officials after conducting the inquiry against them.
