Hyderabad: Political developments on Telangana front are picking up  pace.

On a day when TDP member of legislative assembly from Nizamabad Pocharam Srinivas Reddy announced his resignation from the party in protest against the ambiguous policy on Telangana issue, the Congress high command has summoned all the party MPs from Telangana region for urgent consultations.

State Congress president D Srinivas contacted all the MPs of the region and asked them to be in Delhi on Wednesday for a meeting with the senior leader Pranab Mukherji and others.

The summon assumes significance in the backdrop of the threats of many Telangana Congress members of Lok Sabha to resign if the report of Srikrishna committee turns out to be anti Telangana.

Several of these MPs including G Vivek have come out with threats of resignation and bigger sacrifices for the sake of Telangana.

The union government was scheduled to release the report of Srikrishna committee on Thursday amid growing political tensions in Andhra Pradesh.
The report will be made public by publishing it on the website of Union Home Ministry at 5pm on Thursday, after the Home Minister P Chidambaram formally hands over a copy of the report to the representatives of the political parties from Andhra Pradesh.

Telangana Rashtra Samiti and the Bharatiya Janata Party have already announced their decision to stay away from the meeting. Telugu Desam was under tremendous pressure to boycott the meeting.

Pocharam Srinivas Reddy told the reporters in Hyderabad that he decided to quit the Telugu Desam as he was convinced that TDP was not the party which can achieve Telangana state.

"Telangana will be given by Congress and achieved by Telangana Rashtra Samiti," said Reddy who represents Banswada constituency of Nizamabad district in the state assembly.

He said that he was frustrated and unhappy with the inconsistent policy of the Telugu Desam president Chandrababu Naidu on the issue of Telagnana state.

"All the TDP leaders who want Telangana were thinking of quitting the party," he said.

"NTR, who fought for the self respect of Telugu people is source of inspiration for me to fight for the self respect of Telangana people," said Reddy, who was likely to join TRS.

Meanwhile, names of the TDP legislators Hanumanth Shinde (Jukkal in Nizamabad) and Suddala Devaiah (Choppadandi, Karimnagar district) were doing rounds as the possible MLAs to quit the party.

Shinde met Chandrababu Naidu today and assured that he will fight from Telangana by remaining in the party.

Suddala Devaiah, after consultations with the party workers of his constituency said that as per the wishes of the workers he will remain in TDP.

Meanwhile, the BJP on Tuesday launched its campaign to build pressure on the central government to bring Telangana bill in the next session of Parliament.

The BJP president Nitin Gadkari, addressing a public meeting in Adilabad assured that after the BJP led NDA comes to power at the centre in 2014, its first act would be the formation of Telangana state.

He said that in the NDA's meeting, Telangana will be the main subject on the agenda. He criticised the Congress government for massive deployment of the paramilitary forces in Telangana region and said that if the forces were not removed immediately, the BJP will stall the Parliament.

He dismissed the Srikrishna committee as "time pass" committee.
