Dubai: Bring your umbrellas and raincoats with you this weekend as rain clouds are expected to bring different intensities of rain at different times in Dubai and the northern emirates, and down south on Saturday.

“Friday’s weather will be fair to partly cloudy but the clouds may increase by evening, with a chance of light rain over some northern and eastern areas — including Dubai, Insha’Allah. On Saturday morning, we expect it to be cloudy in general with a chance of light to moderate rain over Dubai, northern and southern areas, especially over Al Ain area,” a forecaster from the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology told Gulf News on Thursday.

The rain clouds are expected to move south-east, especially towards Al Ain, by Sunday morning.

The wet weather is due to the developing upper air trough over Iran and northern areas.

The south-easterly wind in general on the surface level coming from the Indian Ocean and Red Sea trough, with a  huge amount of water and higher degree of temperature, cause clouds to develop over this area, especially over eastern and southeastern areas.

Heavy rain expected to lash Oman

Another rise in temperature is expected by a few degrees but the mercury is likely to fall to 25C in coastal areas and 30C in internal areas by Friday evening and Saturday morning when it rains.

The average temperature across the country increases by 3C to 5C in April when compared to March.

The Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea will be moderate but rough during cloud activity.
