Dubai: Motorists in Ras Al Khaimah were not spared from Tuesday morning’s fog, and according to reports, as many as 26 cars were involved in road accidents that left five injured.
Major General Ali Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, said that over 30 additional police patrols were dispatched to roads near schools and other busy roads across the emirate to monitor traffic flow.
“People should exercise caution while driving with low visibility, and to beware of slippery roads caused by the mist,” he said.
Colonel Ali Saeed Al Alkim, director of the Traffic and Patrol Department, said that five accidents occurred on Shaikh Mohammad Bin Salem Street.
“The first accident was between five cars that left four people injured, with one of the passengers sustaining serious injuries. The second accident involved four vehicles and left one man with minor injuries, while the third was caused by a collision of 11 cars,” he said.
A fourth accident involved six vehicles, with no injuries reported.
Watch: Driving in Dubai fog.
Motorists are advised to abide by the traffic rules to avoid accidents, such as using the indicator signal when switching lanes, leaving enough distance with the vehicle in front of them, and not to drive with the hazard lights switched on except when it is necessary to warn others of an emergency lying ahead.
