Dubai: Residents in the UAE took to social media to commend a police officer in Abu Dhabi for pushing a broken-down vehicle away from oncoming traffic on a busy road.

The trending video, which was sent to @simplyabudhabi by an Instagram user, has received over 36,000 views since it was posted on Monday.

The short video clip shows the policeman in a kandora with a reflective jacket, pushing a grey sedan vehicle towards the shoulder.

Two other motorists were also caught on camera helping the police officer, with one resident rushing out of his parked car and running towards the stalled car.

While commenting on the admirable efforts of Abu Dhabi Police, social media users also gave examples of how police went beyond their duties to help motorists in need.

@simsprimarolo, said: “When my tyre burst leaving me stranded on the side of the road with my elderly mother and two young daughters, a Saaed patrol car found me before I even had the chance to call them. It was mid-August and fifty degrees Celsius but the officer insisted on changing the wheel personally and escorting us to an ADNOC service station. Really amazing gentleman.”

This is not the first time that a police officer was caught on camera pushing a stalled vehicle.

Last week in Dubai, a traffic officer was promoted for helping a man push his car away to safety.

The car broke down in the middle of the road, and according to CCTV footage, the police officer bravely walked through traffic and was able to leave the vehicle in the service lane.

Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, then ordered Officer’s Waleed Mal Allah Abdullah promotion for his heroic efforts and dedication to the job.
