Dubai: Members of the UAE Paralympic team will take part in the second Emirates NBD Unity Run to be held on November 24 at Dubai Silicon Oasis, the event organisers announced on Monday.

Held in support of people of determination, the 10km run and 3km walk will raise funds for Al Noor Training Centre for Persons with Disabilities, Senses Residential and Day Care Centre as well as Emirates Red Crescent.

Led by Emirates NBD’s flagship advocacy platform #TogetherLimitless, the community will be open to children and adults of all abilities and ages.

To be held on a Friday morning, the fun family event will see participants competing in an untimed 3km walk, followed by a 10km run.

According to Ruth Dickinson, Managing Partner at Fitt Group that is organising the event, entry to the event will cost Dh165 for adults, Dh100 for children above five years of age, while people with disabilities and children under five can participate for free.

“The Emirates NBD Unity Run is a celebration of unity in diversity, it’s an event that brings together people of different abilities together, promoting inclusion and accessibility for people with disabilities,” said Dickinson, speaking to Gulf News.

Registration for the walk could either be done on-site on the morning of the event or online at www.unityrun.ae.

The inaugural Unity Run held last year was hugely successful with the participation more than 2,000 people, helping raise funds people with determination, and this year the expectations are higher.

“We are very excited about the second Emirates NBD Unity Run and deeply appreciative of its support of Al Noor and other charities. Last year’s inaugural event was a huge success as well as being tremendous fun. Sharing the morning, walking or running with so many people of different backgrounds and abilities epitomises the ‘unity’ theme and we all wish this year’s event continued success,” said Ian Fairservice, Vice-Chairman of Al Noor Training Centre.

A complete package of family fun, the event will have a unity village alongside the route of the walk, offering entertainment activities, music and a variety of food.
