A practising paediatrician in the UAE for 23 years, Dr Mandaar Bichu has written a new book, his latest, called ‘New-age Parenting and Child Health Handbook’.

The book attempts to guide new parents on the art of parenting from the time of the birth of their baby until it crosses the threshold of teenage, taking them through the challenges, small and big, of raising children — from handling bouts of colic, to teething, vaccinations and everything else.

Releasing the 220-page glossy, illustrated hardcover in Dubai on Wednesday, Dr Bichu told Gulf News: “In the last two decades, what I have observed as a doctor is that the human touch has disappeared in the interaction between the medical fraternity and patient community. Health education, once a part of everyday conversation [between the two], has no place in consultations today. This book is an attempt to talk to parents about all questions they might have on childcare. From nutrition to psychology, it offers handy tips in simple, jargon-free language.”

The book, published by Express Money and UAE Exchange, will be distributed free of cost at their outlets to their clients and is available online including on Kindle.

Dr Bichchu, also a connoisseur of music, is the author of six other books on the subject.
