Abu Dhabi: Six Indians, including two boys aged 11 and 12, arrived in the UAE on Tuesday for DNA-identification of the bodies of family members killed in a fire accident in October last year.

Of the five workers from the south Indian state of Telangana whose bodies were charred beyond recognition, one body was repatriated after DNA matching was done by a relative working in the UAE.

The remaining four workers did not have relatives in the UAE. Their family members in a remote village had had to go through the process of obtaining passports and other documents before they could travel to the UAE.

The employer of the deceased workers arranged for their travel and boarding, Dinesh Kumar, Counsellor — Community Welfare at the Indian embassy told Gulf News on Tuesday.

A company spokesperson told Gulf News that the family members will be taken to complete the procedures on Wednesday.

Of the six family members arrived here, two are fathers of two workers, two are children of two workers and their guardians, he said.

Eleven-year-old Thota Rajesh and 12-year-old Akhil Malavath have a strange destiny of visiting a foreign city where their fathers had a tragic death. Rajesh’s father Thota Ragesh and and Malavath’s father Malavath Prakah, 32, had left their tribal village, looking for a prosperous life. The children are accompanied by their uncles.

Muchindla Rajeshudu, 55, has come to identify his son M. Naresh, 28, who had reached Abu Dhabi in March 2015. Naresh’s 24-year-old wife and four-year-old son are eagerly waiting to hear about his body.

Father of another victim, Gandla Abhilash, is also among the group.

Body of the fifth victim, Pitla Naresh, had already been repatriated to his village in Nizamabad district. A close relative working in the UAE gave samples for DNA tests to identify the body.
