Sharjah: Sharjah Department of Statistics and Community Development (DSCD) has updated demographic data of 210,500 Emiratis and residents living with them as part of their ‘Tahdeeth’ project.
The project aims to update the data and information of Emirati families and individuals who were first surveyed in the Sharjah Census 2015.
The first phase of Tahdeeth, which was conducted from October 7 to November 6, updated the details of 127,531 Emirati individuals and their families in Sharjah. The second phase from November 7 to December 15 will reach out to those residents who could not be contacted during the first phase.
The DSCD’s Tahdeeth Call Centre has made 61,300 phone calls since the launch of the project. These have resulted in the updating of information of 144,231 Emiratis from Sharjah, 18,701 Emiratis from other emirates who are living in Sharjah and 47,457 non-Emiratis living with Emirati families.
During the second phase of Tahdeeth, the call centre will contact families who did not answer calls made during the first phase. The project’s team will also visit Emirati houses with the same objective,
“With the second phase of Tahdeeth close to completion, we can say that the project has so far been a resounding success, with the database of Sharjah’s citizens almost entirely updated,” said Shaikh Mohammad Bin Abdullah Al Thani, Chairman of DSCD.
He pointed out that since the launch of the project last month, they have received an impressive response from citizens who have cooperated to update their information.
“Tahdeeth is in line with DSCD’s strategy to boost sustainable development and further the welfare of Emirati citizens in Sharjah. It facilitates the availability of precise and accurate information about the population, helping relevant government bodies to provide better services for residents,” said Al Thani.
He explained that Tahdeeth also provides decision makers with the demographic information needed to launch development projects, in line with the directives of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
Al Thani urged Emirati families who have not yet updated their information to contact the department at their earliest convenience and provide copies of their civil records, Emirates IDs and tenancy contracts (as relevant) by calling 06 519 1789 or via WhatsApp on 056 508 6004.
Residents can also upload these documents directly via the link: www.dscd.ae. He also urged residents to cooperate with DSCD’s female staff members who will be scheduling visits to their residences to ensure the completion of the Tahdeeth project that aims to lead to the realisation of Sharjah’s development goals.
