Sharjah: The Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF) kicks off its seventh edition at Expo Centre Sharjah today (April 21). This year, the festival will see participation from 109 publishing houses from 15 countries, and will feature a schedule of 2,028 activities and events divided into four programmes. Set to be inaugurated in the presence of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the festival will run until May 2.

Held under the theme ‘Discover My City’, the festival will also include 40 publishing houses from the UAE, 25 from Lebanon, and 17 from Egypt, as well as other publishers from Australia, Canada, India, and several other countries.

The event’s schedule includes the children programme with 1,919 activities, the cultural programme with 70 activities, and the cooking programme with 28 activities, in addition to 11 social media cafe activities.

The festival will also see attendance by a number of renowned cultural, art, media, and education figures, including Egyptian actress Lubluba, Jordanian author Rawda Hudhud, and Egyptian director and poet Shawki Hijab.

The festival is open for visitors from Sunday to Wednesday from 9am to 8pm, on Thursday from 9am to 10pm, and on Friday from 4pm to 10pm.
