Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, received on Monday at Zabeel Palace greetings on the occasion of Ramadan from Islamic scholars who are guests of the UAE President.

Shaikh Mohammad also received guests of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award and members of the award’s organising committee.

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, were present.

Shaikh Mohammad expressed his wishes for the scholars to exert their utmost efforts to correct the path of some Muslim youths who have strayed from the teachings and concepts of Islam, a religion that is known for peace, tolerance, moderation, mercy and coexistence with other non-Islamic religions and cultures.

He also urged the scholars to exert efforts in addressing the scourge of terrorism and extremist ideologies that are widespread among some Muslim youth, in order to preserve the sanctity and reputation of Islam and its noble humanitarian message.

“We want peace and security for our Arab and Islamic society, so they can fully enjoy the gift of life granted to them by God, a life that is free from religious and ideological extremism,” said Shaikh Mohammad.

Later, Shaikh Mohammad and the scholars performed Maghrib prayers. Shaikh Mohammad also hosted an iftar banquet in honour of the scholars.
