Abu Dhabi: A total of seven beauty parlours and salons in the capital have been referred to the courts for violating health and safety regulations, the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City announced in a statement sent today (April 1).

Five other beauty centres and salons were fined for other public health violations during a recent municipal check into establishments located in Khalifa City and Mohammad Bin Zayed City. More than 78 packets of cosmetics and herbal mixtures were also confiscated and destroyed.

The inspections were conducted as part of the Municipality’s regular campaigns to ensure public safety. During the checks, the Municipality also warned against ear candling treatment, an alternative therapeutic procedure that beauty centres are not authorised to offer. Officials stressed that there could be grave risks for customers to opt for ear candling outside the ambit of authorised medical centres.

During the inspections, the Municipality reminded establishment owners to meet all health and safety regulations for the safety of customers, while urging salon workers to prioritise hygiene.
