Dubai: A young scientist has been appointed as the new head of Dubai Future Academy.

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council has appointed Saeed Mohammad Al Gergawi as the director of the academy.

The decision of appointing him as the director of the academy, which is an initiative of the Dubai Future Foundation, reflects Shaikh Hamdan’s directives to promote Dubai in the field of prospecting and manufacturing the future and providing it with specialised young national competencies.

Al Gergawi is a young national scientist specialising in future science. He is a graduate of the University of Eastern Michigan and has worked as a director of Mars 2117. Al Gergawi is also a member of the strategic team of the Hope Probe Project and a researcher at the Mohammad Bin Rashid Space Centre.

Al Gergawi has worked in the team who prepared the Mars Strategy 2017 and supervised the Space Settlement Forum. He contributes to scientific programmes and writes scientific articles in newspapers and periodicals regionally and globally.

Launched in 2016, the Dubai Future Academy is responsible for the emirates future readiness agenda. The Dubai Future Academy was launched as part of the Dubai Future Foundation, which aims to empower leaders to shape the future.

The Academy’s mission is to deliver educational programmes that address today’s pressing challenges by preparing industry pioneers in the UAE to create a better future.
