Dubai: Residents of all ages still have a chance to take part in the 24 Salomon Wadi Bih Run in the Musandam peninsula, as registration has been extended until January 20.
The event, which is set to take place on February 5-6, will include different running races for all abilities and ages.
All solo races will take place on February 5, with 72km, a 50km and 30km routes available. Relay teams can choose to run a 50km course on the same day or the original 72km route on February 6. Both relays are for teams of five, with two female runners mandatory, on routes marked into stages ranging from 1.5km to 4.2km in distance.
Individual runners must take turns to run each stage while their support vehicle transports the other team members along the course, except for the first and last stage where four members of the team are required to run together.
To register, all runners need to upload their passport copies online so that they are able to cross the UAE-Oman border in Dibba. UAE residents must also upload a copy of their residence visa. “We urge entrants to register soon to avoid disappointment for this fantastic weekend away, and for teams to register additional runners in advance, just in case original team members cannot make the race, as changes will not be permitted after 20 January 2016,” said Neil Young, Race Director.
All categories will start and finish at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Dibba, providing runners with the option to stay the night at the hotel or camp on the beach nearby. A race village at the hotel will provide food and a number of entertainment options for the whole family throughout both days.
“The Wadi Bih Run is the oldest and most exciting trail run in the region, dating back to 1993 when just 16 teams completed the spectacular course through the dramatic winding Wadi Bih canyon. With over 1000m of ascent, it is a great physical challenge and a refreshing chance to escape from the city and into the mountains,” said Young.
