Abu Dhabi: Thursday, September 21, will be the Islamic New Year holiday for both the Federal Government and the private sector in the UAE.
The announcement was made by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation on Tuesday.
The one-day official holiday on Thursday given to private-sector workers will enable them to observe the Hijri new Islamic year with their families, said Saqr Ghobash, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
As per the directives of the UAE Cabinet, normal duty for the public sector will resume on Sunday, according to the FAHR.
On this occasion, the authority extended its heartfelt congratulations to President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, and people of the Arab and Islamic world.
