Dubai: Brand Dubai, a subsidiary of the Government of Dubai Media Office, said that the music recordings for the stage performance of Al Faris (The Knight), an epic musical play based on the poems of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, have been completed.

The songs for the musical are sung by renowned Lebanese singer Gassan Saliba and popular Emirati singer Balqees Fathi, who also play the lead roles in the play.

The Brand Dubai team is working together with Rahbani Productions and other partners to present a stage production that will be a unique spectacle full of colour, music and dance.

Salem Belyouha, Media Services Director in the Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO) and Project Manager of Al Faris, said that the GDMO seeks to present a stage show that will be a landmark production in the history of Arabic musical theatre.

“We have put in place all the elements necessary for a unique production that combines the beauty of the poems of Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid with the best of dramatic theatre,” he said.

“The play will be a distinctive addition to the Emirati and Arab cultural scene.”

Written by renowned Lebanese theatrical director Marwan Rahbani, Al Faris depicts the epic horseback journey of a knight to rescue his lady love Shomoos from her kidnapper Ghairan. A richly allegorical fantasy play, Al Faris tells the story of a warrior’s determination to ensure his people are safe and prosperous in a world surrounded by violence and hatred.

Preparations for the show are in full swing.

Rahbani, who is also the director of the play, said background music for the stage show was recorded in state-of-the-art studios in Lebanon and Ukraine.

The stage production of Al Faris is set to open on January 4, 2016 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The play will run for four days till January 7, 2016.
