Dubai: The 10th edition of the Eid in Dubai celebrations will see a diverse line up of events to usher in Eid Al Fitr, the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) announced on Tuesday.
‘Eid in Dubai — Eid Al Fitr’ is a social initiative that was launched in 2008 to bring together people from diverse communities and cultures from within and outside the emirate under a common theme ‘United in Celebration’.
This year’s ‘Eid in Dubai — Eid Al Fitr’ celebrations will have a range of events and activities for everyone to enjoy including concerts by Arab stars Majid Al Muhandis and Mohammad Al Shehhi, family oriented events hosted by malls, including renowned cartoon character shows and performances by roaming artistes, in addition to Modhesh World, one of the most popular indoor edutainment destinations in the region.
To celebrate the 10th edition, ‘Eid in Dubai’ will also have plenty of surprises and prizes for Eid shoppers, including the ‘Shop, Spin & Win’ promotion run by the Dubai Shopping Malls Group, with the support of DFRE, and offering Dh250,000 in instant prizes.
Saeed Mohammad Measam Al Falasi, Executive Director, Retail and Strategic Alliances, DFRE, said: “As an annual celebration that unites people from different nationalities, there is a great deal of anticipation surrounding the Eid in Dubai events. Celebrating a decade of success, this year we want to ensure that everyone in the emirate feels the joy of Eid.”
He added residents and visitors can continue to experience the vibrant ambience of Dubai’s summer even after the conclusion of the ‘Eid in Dubai’ celebrations with the arrival of the annual extravaganza, Dubai Summer Surprises, which offers six weeks of sales, starting from July 1 and running until August 12.
Free WiFi
Etisalat has announced that it will offer free UAE WiFi — the firm’s high-speed public WiFi across malls, restaurants and cafes for residents in the UAE during Eid Al Fitr holidays from June 22 to July 1.
UAE WiFi by Etisalat lets residents connect to the internet using their mobile devices in major public locations. During the Eid Al Fitr holidays, any individual with a UAE mobile number will be able to enjoy free high-speed and high-quality access through public WiFi.
Etisalat’s Chief Consumer Officer, Khalid Al Khouly said, “In the festive spirit of Eid Al Fitr, we want to be part of our customers’ celebration, ensuring they stay fully connected to their families and friends. Customers will experience high speed and quality free access across Etisalat’s public WiFi network to exchange greetings, share photos, access social networking websites and surf online.”
To use the service, customers visiting key public locations, including shopping malls, parks, beaches, entertainment and sports venues, airports and much more, should connect to ‘UAE WiFi by Etisalat’ WiFi SSID signal. After a one time registration, Etisalat will send an SMS with PIN number to ensure safety and security. Customers need to use their mobile number as login and PIN number as password. Once registered, the user will be given free WiFi access. After Eid Al Fitr promo period users still will be able to continue using UAE WiFi by Etisalat with free access if eligible to it, or with paid packages of their choice.
