Dubai: A UK-based Pakistani national has won $1 million in Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire Promotion.

Shahzaib Akhtar did not know he had won as he was unreachable when his ticket (No. 3337 in Series 246) was drawn on Tuesday morning in Concourse D, Dubai International Airport.

He is the 13th Pakistani national to have won $1 million in the promotion.

Following the draw, the presentation of the previous Millennium Millionaire winner took place, where Shanthi Achuthan Kutty, an Indian housewife from Dubai, attended the presentation and witnessed the draw. Kutty thanked Dubai Duty Free for her win and a lifetime experience to witness the draw.

Also, a Finest Surprise Draw was conducted directly after the Millennium Millionaire, with Mukund Dass winning a BMW X6 XDrive Exclusive. Dass, a 55-year-old sales manager of a pharmaceutical distribution company, said: “Being a regular participant in Dubai Duty Free Promotion, finally my dream has come true. I’d like to thank Dubai Duty Free for this opportunity.”

Meanwhile, another winner to take home a BMW S 1000 motorbike was Peter Njoroge. A regular participant in Dubai Duty Free promotion, he bought his ticket when he was flying to Kenya for vacation.

The latest Millennium Millionaire and Finest Surprise draw was conducted by Colm McLoughlin, executive vice-chairman and CEO of Dubai Duty Free; Salah Tahlak, executive vice president – corporate services; and Sinead El Sibai, senior vice-president – marketing.
