Dubai: A Pakistani, who sold his midsize luxury sports car to buy a family car, became the winner of an Aston Martin sports car through Dubai Duty Free’s Finest Surprise Draw on Tuesday.

Mohsin Hamid, 33, who was born and raised in Dubai, said he had recently sold his Mercedes CLK 200 and bought a Honda Civic when he felt that he had joined the 30s club and was in need of a family car, especially for his son.

After winning the Aston Martin Vantage Sportshift in Tungsten Silver in Special Car Series 1632 from Dubai Duty Free, Hamid is in a dilemma — whether to switch to his new sports car or sell it.

“I’m actually out of words,” Hamid, a sales manager with a real estate company, told Gulf News.

“It’s quite appealing and a good vibe of having earned something in Dubai…But I am in two minds now. I am not sure if I should sell my Honda Civic or my Aston Martin…I will take a decision after discussing it with my family.”

He said he had already experienced the thrill of driving an Aston Martin owned by some of his clients.

A regular participant in Dubai Duty Free’s promotions, Hamid had purchased his lucky ticket number 2099 online on August 2. He could barely believe his luck in finally winning and he hopes that his lucky streak continues with a few Millennium Millionaire tickets still in hand.

The winning ticket number was drawn by Colm McLoughlin, Dubai Duty Free Executive Vice-Chairman and CEO, together with Ramesh Cidambi, Chief Operating Officer, Salah Tahlak, Executive Vice-President for Corporate Services, and Nic Bruwer, Executive Vice-President for Commercial.
