Dubai: A mother was charged with negligence after her 15-month old son drowned in his home pool in Umm Suqeim, police confirmed on Tuesday.

Major General Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant to the Dubai Police Chief for Criminal investigation Affairs, said that the mother was then released on humanitarian grounds, as she was deeply shaken by the incident.

He confirmed that there was no foul play and that it was just an accident.

The Arab-French boy drowned on Friday when he went out of the house to play as his mother was in the kitchen.

The father found the boy floating in the pool when he came back home, and rushed him to the hospital, whom called the authorities.
