Dubai: Dubai Police issued 2,337 fines to drivers of vehicles with tyres in a poor condition between January and April.

Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of the Dubai Traffic Police, said neglecting checking a vehicle’s tyres can have serious repercussions, as accidents that happen due to tyre explosions tend to be serious and lead to casualties.

The fine for driving with tyres in poor condition is Dh200 and seven days’ impoundment.

Dubai Police issued 719 fines for driving with tyres in a bad condition in January, 711 in February, 474 in March and 433 in April.

On Thursday, Col Al Mazroui said Dubai Police helped a family whose car tyre exploded on Mohammad Bin Zayed Road in the Abu Dhabi direction before the Dubai-Al Ain bridge.
