Dubai: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the UAE on a two-day official visit in early February, sources familiar with the arrangements of the visit told Gulf News.
Sources said Modi will visit Abu Dhabi on February 10 and Dubai the next day.
An official announcement about his schedule is expected to be released soon.
Modi will meet top UAE leaders to further enhance the bilateral relations between India and the UAE in various fields.
According to the sources, Modi will also visit the Wahat Al Karama monument for UAE martyrs in Abu Dhabi on February 10.
On February 11, he will address a community gathering at Dubai Opera. Around 2,000 people will be invited to attend the event. The same day, he will address the sixth World Government Summit scheduled for February 11 to 13.
India is the guest country for the annual gathering of VIPs and experts from the public and private sectors around the world, as well as heads of states, royalty, ministers, CEOs, innovators, entrepreneurs, academics and students from top universities.
This will be Modi’s second official trip to the UAE, 30 months after he paid his first visit in August 2015, which made him the first Indian Prime Minister to tour the country in 34 years.
The last visit before that was in 1981 by the then prime minister Indira Gandhi.
Modi’s first visit forged a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, particularly in the security, energy and investment sectors.
It was followed by several high-level visits between the countries, most importantly the visits of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to India in February 2016 and January 2017.
Modi’s upcoming visit is expected to further boost the political, diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries.
The Indian community in the UAE is also expecting their prime minister to make new announcements that will benefit the expat community.
