Abu Dhabi: Imams have implored Muslim congregations to maintain the spirit of Ramadan all year round.

They have called on worshippers to keep up the charitable sense of piety, obedience and generosity that prevailed during the month.

The preachers said the sacred days and nights of Ramadan had gone, for which “we need to give thanks to Allah, The Most Generous, on the great favours He has endowed upon us, including the completion of fasting, standing up for prayer at night, reciting the holy Quran, remembering His name and giving charity.”

They added that Eid is the time for the observers of fast to reap what they had sown throughout the month, going on to say: “But the ultimate joy is the privilege of entering the Paradise via the Rayyan, the gate Allah has exclusively reserved for the observers of fast and with which to honour them.

“About it, our Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) said, ‘in Paradise there is a gate which is called Rayyan through which only the observers of fast would enter on the Day of Resurrection.’

“The Eid is meant to be a time of enjoyment that should extend to one’s family, relatives, friends and neighbours and even domestic helpers.

“In this, Muslims should follow the tradition of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), who had been keen to spread joy and share it with his family.”

Imams also shone light on charitable work like visiting patients, hosting iftar banquets, building mosques, schools and Quran memorisation centres, as well as sponsoring orphans.

Precious opportunity

They said Eid Al Fitr is a precious opportunity for consolidating relations, intimacy and mercy among Muslims, citing a relevant verse from the Quran, “O ye who believe! Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger, and those charged with authority among you.”

They urged worshippers to promote and observe the values of right, justice, peace and intimacy.

“May Allah grant our leader President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and other UAE leaders success in serving Islam and the homeland. May Allah have mercy on the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late Shaikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and rest them in His paradise.”

They prayed to Allah, the Most Gracious, to continue blessing the UAE and all Muslim countries with safety and security and save the UAE and its leaders from any harm.
