Dubai: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and Chairman of Dubai Municipality, has approved a project to level land located in Khawaneej 2, allocated for housing for Emiratis, with a value of more than Dh42 million.

Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, said that the municipality has prepared for the upcoming project in Khawaneej 2 and has opened up bids for contractors specialised in such projects.

Eng Juma Khalifa Al Fuqaei, Director of General Maintenance Department at Dubai Municipality, said that the land that will be levelled for the project is 5.56 million square metres.

He added that the levelling process will take up to 455 days in order to complete 9.6 million cubic metres of digging. The reclamation process will require 6.35 million cubic metres, however, that will be coordinated with the Survey Department according to the respective emirate’s policy of providing housing for citizens.

Projects of the same sort have been implemented in the past through separate contracts with various companies, adding up to one million square metres and a value of approximately Dh15.5 million.
