Abu Dhabi: Patients across the UAE can now schedule reminders to take their medicines via a revamped mobile application.

Boasting an abundance of new services and enhanced features, the Health Authority in Abu Dhabi (HAAD) unveiled a revamped mobile application today (Tuesday) to help residents refrain from physically visiting the authority as much as possible.

Now available on App Store, Google Play and Windows Store, the mobile application, which features 13 new and enhanced services, will be officially launched during Gitex 2015 to gain as much exposure as possible. However, it is currently available for the public to use, said Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of HAAD.

Showcasing a live demo of the refurbished application, Ali Mohammad Al Ali, IT Manager at HAAD, said that some of the distinctive features include M-Nurse, Vaccination and M-Patient.

“Patients can schedule reminders to take their medicines through the M-Nurse option. A pop-up message will appear on the person’s screen every time they need to take one. They can include as many reminders as possible,” he added.

Meanwhile, parents can also access the application to find out what types of vaccinations their children require along with the schedules through the Vaccination feature.

“Parents can enter their children’s date of birth and the system will offer them the vaccination schedule that their children will need to follow,” Al Ali explained.

“In addition, through the new M-Patient, Emiratis can find out how much the government has been spending on their treatment and non-Emiratis can also realise how much their insurance has helped cover some of their hospital fees.”

“The M-Patient grants the application’s users access to their previous treatment logs and data from their insurance claims. For someone like me, I never realised how much the government was spending on my hospital visits until I used this new feature,” he added.

The revamped mobile application also enables visitors to access the public rating of physicians across the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Health-care professionals can also apply for an exam booking to obtain a professional licence, Healthcare Professional Licensing Cancellation or Transfer Location, among a number of other services.

For more information, residents can visit the mobile application ‘Health Authority Abu Dhabi’, available in both English and Arabic.

Look up the law

In Dubai, meanwhile, smartphone users are also reaping the benefits of smart services thanks to the UAE Legislations App launched by the UAE Cabinet last year to help residents better understand the law.

The law app is in keeping with the government’s strategy to provide the best services to customers, and is in line with the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to develop smart services based on the latest technologies to meet the needs of the people.

The application includes an e-database of the most important federal legislations in the UAE since the country’s founding in 1971.

Its content covers 270 pieces of legislation and has been divided into 21 sections, including the full text of the UAE Constitution, the personal status law, and penal and civil law.

The content also covers legislation related to areas such as commercial, financial, investment, human resources, education and research, and social security and pensions. It also includes amendments to the legislation.

The app can be downloaded from Google Play and App Store.
