Fujairah: Emirati soldier Yousef Salem Al Kaabi, one of four UAE servicemen killed in Yemen on Tuesday, was laid to rest during a quiet funeral in Fujairah on Thursday.

Al Kaabi and his comrades were among those killed in Tuesday’s attack in Aden, where Houthi rebels had been driven out from by a Saudi-led campaign to restore Yemen’s legitimate government.

He was 32. He is survived by a wife, six-month-old son Abdullah and two-year-old daughter Asma.

Al Kaabi was among nine siblings – seven brothers and two sisters.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, visited his family on Thursday. Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, was also present.

Al Kaabi, who has served 10 years in the UAE Armed Forces, had sent his family a text from Yemen days before the deadly attack, his brother Mohammad, who is also a soldier, said.

“We couldn’t talk on the phone because the line was bad, so he sent us a text wishing us well. I and the whole country are proud of my brother and the other martyrs,” Mohammad said. 

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid offered his condolences to the family of martyr Khamis Rashid Al Abdouli who died in the line of duty during “Operation Restoring Hope”, under the Arab military alliance.

Shaikh Mohammad and other senior officials visited the martyrs’ mourning majlis at the Al Khalibiyah area in Fujairah offering the martyr’s family their sincerest condolences.

 

Shaikh Mohammad and his companions also visited the mourning tents of martyr Yousif Salem Al Mohammad Al Kaabi at the Mdhab area in Fujairah who was also killed during the Saudi-led campaign.

Shaikh Mohammad expressed his sincerest sympathies and prayed that Allah give solace to his family.
