Dubai: Residents across the UAE took to social media to praise the heroic efforts of firefighter Jasim Eisa Al Beloushi, who lost his life while containing the fire of Wednesday’s crash landing at Dubai International Airport.

The 27-year-old was buried after sunrise at the Suleiya graveyard following the funeral prayer at Shaikh Rashid Bin Saeed mosque, near the family home in Ras Al Khaimah.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, was the first to offer his condolences on Twitter last Wednesday night.

“We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of firefighter Jasim Eisa Al Beloushi. May God grant his family and relatives solace and patience,” tweeted Shaikh Mohammad.

Tributes were also paid by Lt General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, reported the national news agency WAM. Shaikh Saif “paid a rich tribute to the martyr of the nation, Jassim Issa Al Balooshi, adding that he will remain a symbol of manhood and sacrifice”.

Shortly after the funeral, Al Baloushi's bravery was applauded on social media and became a trending topic under #Martyr_Jasim_AlBeloushi (in Arabic).

@borashid07 tweeted a montage of Al Baloushi's life as a firefighter, and said: "We have a new champion’s name in the list of heroes who sacrificed himself for others ' lives."

Al Beloushi was part of the Civil Defence team that was responsible in dousing out the fire after flight EK521 from India abruptly hit the tarmac of the runway, which then burst into flames.

@ben_saed202 posted two photographs of the heroic civil servant, and said: "God bless the martyr Jassim Al Beloushi and may he have eternal peace and his family have patience [to deal with their loss]."

All 300 passengers and crew on board survived the incident, with no major injuries reported. The reason behind the crash has to be confirmed.
