Ajman: A big fire broke out on the roof of the Splash Centre in Ajman at 11.26am on Friday, said Colonel Nasser Rashid Al Ziri, director of Media and Public Relations at Ajman Civil Defence.
The fire started in an area [on the roof] that had several garbage boxes stored, said Col Al Ziri. However, the first floor interiors of the centre were unaffected by the fire, he added. There were no reports of injuries.
Firefighters from the Ajman headquarters and the Industrial Area fire stations put out the blaze.
“We took immediate precautions to prevent the fire from spreading on the premises,” said Col Al Ziri.
Ajman Civil Defence along with the Ajman Police regulated the traffic near the shopping centre.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
