Dubai: A Dubai resident who bought her Dubai Duty Free (DDF) ticket on her birthday earlier this month (June) became DDF’s 194th Millennium Millionaire on Tuesday.
Leah, a Filipina who works in an office in Dubai, won $1 million (Dh3.67 million) on Tuesday after her lucky ticket No. 4400 was drawn.
“My husband and I were shocked at first but we immediately thanked the Lord,” Leah, 34, who is currently on holiday in the Philippines, told Gulf News.
Leah said she bought the ticket on her birthday on June 6. This is the third time she has bought a raffle ticket. She believes it is God’s will that they won, especially as they intend to help others with their winnings.
“We plan to share the blessings with our family and help those in need,” Leah said.
“It is indeed a huge and pleasant surprise for me and my family. I still can’t believe that I won and it will take time [for the news to sink in].”
Other winners included Sri Lankan Sajani Wickramasinghe, who won a Porsche Panamera 4 for the Finest Surprise draw, while Roni Dsa, an Indian, won a Ducati Monster 821 in DDF’s Surprise Promotion.
