Dubai: The Dubai Airwing rescued a family from the desert when their car got stuck in the sand in a desert area near Bab Al Shams.

The Dubai Police Command and Control Room received a call reporting that a family was lost in the desert and could not reach the main road or find someone to assist them and their car was stuck in the sand.

One of the Air Wing’s helicopters was immediately dispatched to the area to search for the lost party.

The pilots were Lt Colonel Mohammad Juma Mohammad and Lieutenant Hamdan Bu Shagr, and they were able to locate the family.

They helped the family to get their car out of the sand with the help of an ambulance that also reached the location and guide them to the main road.

The family said they were thankful for the quick response of the police.

Lt Col Mohammad said that the work the Air Wing does is a national duty and part of their responsibility towards society.

He added that people should have a GPS device when going into the desert so they are able to know their location in general and especially during emergencies.

People should not hesitate to call the police when they face any problems in the desert.
