Abu Dhabi: The General Women Union’s (GWU) website, launched on the occasion of Emirati Women’s Day, attracted more than 100,000 visitors.

Noora Khalifa Al Suwaidi, director-general of GWU, expressed her satisfaction over the stunning results achieved by the website launched on the occasion of Emirati Women’s Day, which falls on August 28 and is held this year under the theme ‘Women and Innovation’.

The electronic platform aims to open channels of communication with the community with the aim of developing social services that help empower women and strengthen the services provided to them.

Al Suwaidi said that Her Highness Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairperson of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation and Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, is fully satisfied with the interaction of social institutions and individuals with the electronic platform which, in turn, reflects and confirms their support for Emirati Women.

Al Suwaidi pointed out that Shaikha Fatima has ordered honouring institutions that interacted with this initiative and submitted proposals that serve Emirati women and support the process of community development.

The website was launched in implementation of the directives of Shaikha Fatima to mark Emirati Women’s day.
