Dubai: A new pink first-response vehicle has been launched by the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS) and will be dedicated to serve women and children in the city, an emergency official announced.

The pink emergency vehicle, the first in Dubai, will be specialised in treating and transferring cases related to women, and is considered the latest of the current 24 services provided by the DCAS, said Khalifa Bin Darri, executive director of the DCAS.

Bin Darri revealed that their first pink response vehicle will be ready to deal with birth cases and injuries of both women and children.

“The response vehicle will mainly benefit women and will handle all cases of injuries. As for pregnant women, their cases can also be dealt with swiftly with the help of the pink car,” he said.

“In addition, the pink vehicle will deal with cases of children between the ages of one and 12 years,” he added.

Bin Darri further pointed out that during the first phase, the vehicle will be stationed in Al Twar Municipality Centre and will cover the entire Deira area for 12 consecutive hours, from 11am to 11pm.

“The location of the stationing will be re-evaluated in two months based on the number of emergency calls received in a particular area, and this is to ensure that the maximum amount of people benefit from the service,” he said.

Following the trial period, another pink response vehicle will be launched and will cover Bur Dubai area, he confirmed.

Bin Darri said female paramedics and service drivers have been allocated for the response vehicle and that they all carry a wealth of experience, which ensures optimal handling of the reported cases.

“The female paramedics have completed various specialised training courses and are able to provide the appropriate treatment within the shortest time frame. They are also capable of handling all emergency cases, particularly serious injuries,” he added.

He said the launch of the new service comes within the framework of constantly upgrading ambulance services in order to meet the community’s needs.
