Dubai: More than 1,500 residents of Discovery Gardens signed up to a community health awareness scheme organised by developer Nakheel.

The two-month campaign, which was orgainsed in collaboration with City Centre Clinic in Ibn Battuta Mall, offered free medical check-ups to people living in 63 buildings in the community.

The campaign included tests for blood sugar and blood pressure, and general health consultations.

“This highly-popular initiative enabled people to undergo simple yet vital medical checks right on their doorstep. Following its success, we are planning a series of similar schemes at other developments as part of our commitment to organising and hosting events that promote heath, wellbeing, social interaction and education to people living and working in our communities across Dubai,” said a Nakheel spokesperson.

Led by Nakheel Strata, which manages the buildings involved, the scheme began in April and continued into the first week of Ramadan, with clinics held seven days a week in the afternoons and evenings to ensure that residents could visit at a time convenient to them.
