Dubai: Shaikh Mansour Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Protection of the Rights of People with Special Needs (SCPR) and Honorary Patron of Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs, has honoured the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) for its continuous support to Al Noor Training Centre and its activities.

The partners and shareholders recognition ceremony, termed #thankyoufromalnoor, was held at the centre’s premises. Khawla Al Muhairi, Vice-President of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Dewa, received the award on behalf of Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dewa.

The event was attended by Abdullah Al Shaibani, Secretary-General of the Dubai Executive Council and Deputy Chairman of SCPR; Khalid Al Halyan, Chairman of the Board of Al Noor Centre, and representatives of a number of government and private organisations.

“Dewa works to fulfil the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to promote community service. We also support the “My community ... a city for everyone” initiative launched by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, to make the whole of Dubai a special needs-friendly city by 2020,” said Al Tayer.

“In order to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility, Dewa is committed to establishing the foundations of CSR by launching community and development initiatives and projects, working with all stakeholders to serve all society and support a healthy environment for all its members, including people with special needs,” said Khawla.

“Dewa considers these activities an integral part of our corporate social responsibility as a government organisation. This underlines our commitment to support charitable and humanitarian work and our CSR strategy, which includes several programmes to support humanitarian and charitable activities locally, regionally and globally,” added Khawla.
