Abu Dhabi: The Department of Finance - Abu Dhabi, participated today in the Flag Day celebrations, which coincided with the anniversary of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s accession as president of the country.

Hamad Al Hurr Al Suwaidi, chairman of the Department of Finance, said, “Flag Day has become an annual celebration that marks pride, loyalty and a sense of belonging to the country and trust in its wise leadership. This day also represents UAE institutions’ commitment to develop the nation and strengthen its position as a beacon of civilisational humanity, pride and glory. The UAE flag will always remain in the hearts of the people and fluttering in our sky, reflecting our nation’s pride and the wise leadership of His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.”

Al Suwaidi raised the UAE flag at 12pm at DoF’s headquarters and participated in a rendition of the country’s national anthem in the presence of Mohammad Sultan Ghanoum Al Hameli, director-general of the department, and a number of department directors and employees.

The General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs also took part in the national celebrations, with employees raising the flag in front of the administration’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, and at various land, sea and air customs centres in the emirate.

The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) also celebrated Flag Day.

Staff members gathered at noon to witness the raising of the flag at FANR headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

FANR director-general Christer Viktorsson said, “We take great pride in participating in and supporting this initiative. The flag symbolises the UAE and its unity, those who raise it reflect the respect they feel for this country and their pride in its many considerable achievements over a very short period of time.”
