Dubai: An Asian man living in United States had called Dubai police when his elderly father went "missing" in Dubai, according to senior official.

But the son's worry turned into relief when the police located the incommunicado father.

Brigadier Ahmed Bin Glaitha, director of Riffa police station, said they received the call from the worried son who claimed that he lost communication with his father and his phone had been switched off.

“Just one hour after receiving the call, we managed to calm down the son and located his father. He was safe but he had a problem in his phone and he couldn’t contact his son,” Brigadier Bin Glaitha said.

The police went to the office of his father’s employer and discovered that the father was terminated from his job, didn’t go home for a while and stayed with a friend.

“The father was in bad situation because of that, his phone wasn’t working and he didn’t bother to fix it or to speak with anyone, including his son, in order not to cause him any anxiety,” he added.

Officers from Riffa police station went to the father and spoke with him and then brought him to the station and made the father call his son.

In a gesture beyond the call of duty, Dubai Police even took the father’s phone and had it fixed.

“His son was thankful for our efforts. Dubai police always ready to help and give support for anyone,” he said.

Elderman man loses way home

Meanwhile, in separate incident, Dubai police helped an elderly Arab man return to his home after he lost the directions due to his age.

The elderly man went to Riffa police station asking for help after he went outside his son’s home to catch some fresh air — when he forgot his way back.

“He came asking for help and then searched for his son who was a lawyer and we managed to call the son asking him to come to take his father.

"It was emotional moment when the son came and saw his father and then they happily went home together,” Brigadier Glaitha added.
