Dubai: The American University in Dubai (AUD) has awarded 140 students the His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Scholarships for Academic Achievement for the 2016-2017 academic year.

The scholarships were granted to outstanding new students at AUD with a financial need, who will start their programmes at the Mohammad Bin Rashid School for Communication, School of Engineering, School of Business Administration, School of Arts and Sciences, and the School of Architecture, Art and Design.

On Wednesday, the Office of Admissions at AUD announced the names of the students who will benefit from the scholarships.

Carol A. Maalouf, director of Admissions Office at AUD, said that the scholarship committee was keen on providing grants to recipients after reviewing applications and priority was given to the highest achieving and most talented students.

She added that previous AUD scholars had proven their merit at their places of employment after graduation and held high positions in the government and the private sectors. She said that the university was proud of their achievements and considered them to be its ambassadors.

The university congratulated the new scholars, asking them to contact the Office of Admissions to finalise their registration process and help them prepare for the start of the semester in September.
