Dubai: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, has directed officials to replicate Dubai Police’s Electronic Volunteering Platform initiative across Dubai government departments to promote the spirit of volunteering.

Shaikh Hamdan said that such initiatives reflect the UAE’s approach in promoting tolerance and compassion, as well as enhance the commitment to social responsibility, especially among youth.

The unique online volunteering initiative adopted by Dubai Police allows its staff to review all volunteering opportunities, and select the ones that match their skills to support. Shaikh Hamdan commended Dubai Police Academy for allocating 120 hours of volunteering work as part of its curriculum for students, and 30 hours for new recruits.

He said that Dubai Police are leading by example in implementing the vision of the UAE’s leadership, showing highest levels of dedication and patriotism and praised various community initiatives of Dubai Police, which serve society and ensure people’s happiness.

Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, said the new e-platform translates the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to enhance social responsibility.

He explained that the platform also complies with the “Day for Dubai” initiative launched by Shaikh Hamdan to further establish volunteering values, and demonstrate how such contributions can generate positive impact on the society. The new initiative aims to encourage employees to allocate part of their time for social work, Maj-Gen Al Merri clarified.
