Unique Eco-friendly Environment Makes Al Noor Island a Perfect Summer Camp

Dubai: Sharjah’s Al Noor Island is providing students the chance to join a summer camp during their long holidays, starting July 24.

‘The Island Explorer’ summer programme, which caters to two age groups — 9-12 years and 13-16 years — will be based in the island’s Butterfly House.

The attraction is home to more than 20 species of butterflies, with more than 500 individual butterflies fluttering about on any given day. Students will learn about butterflies’ natural history and life cycles, and will be given a chance to be a member of the staff for a day.

“For the students, it is a great way to study the environment, life cycles and importance of our butterflies and, at the same time, understand the value of working as a team. They will also learn to develop observation and recording skills, communicate clearly and analyse data,” Marwa Obaid Al Shamsi, Al Noor Island manager.

For the 9-12-year group, the programme will run every Monday and Wednesday from July 24 to August 2. As for the 13-16-year group, the course will take place every Monday and Wednesday from August 14 to August 23. The summer programme costs Dh580 per student, which will include a meal provided by Noor Cafe.

“This is a fantastic way for children to enter a world of science and natural history while having great fun with children of their own age,” added Al Shamsi.
