Dubai: As part of Al Nisr Group’s endeavour to ensure a safe environment for all its employees, 125 of its employees were nominated earlier this year to become first-aid volunteers.

Employees from various departments of the company were trained by Corporate Wellness on how to respond to medical emergencies at work and received certification on completing the first half of their training programme in June.

The training programme in the company was in response to an initiative launched by the Ministry of Labour requiring a certain number of employees in each company to have certain skills and knowledge in first-aid, fire, and safety in case of an emergency that requires immediate assistance.

Most of the employees in the production site were nominated for this course, since they deal with large machines and are more at risk of danger. In the rest of the departments, the trained staff now have the role of stepping in, in case of an emergency before paramedics arrive.

The full-day training course, which ran from 9am to 5pm, included a mixture of teaching sessions, interactive group discussions and practical demonstrations of techniques.

The health and safety lecture is scheduled to take place soon and will be followed with a training certificate.
