Dubai: The Dubai Municipality, as part of the 37th Plantation Week, has opened Al Khawaneej Pond Park to the public. The 4.41 hectares of landscaped park spread over a total area of about 24.48 hectares, serves the residents of the area and was constructed by Dubai Municipality at a cost of Dh21 million.
The park includes many recreational, sports and service facilities, including a 1,328-metre-long running track, a fitness area, a 1,275-metre-long cycle track, a sandy football ground, 15 shaded seating as well as covered parking fitted with solar panels.
Dubai Municipality’s Public Parks and Horticulture Department has cultivated garden plants in the park, which has all health facilities and playgrounds for children aged one to five years, and six to 12 years.
The park has 156 date palm trees, 688 decorative trees, 1,798 shrubs, 32,270 square metres of green patches, 4,790 square metres of covered soil, 1,730-metre-long plant walls, and 7,529 square metres of flowers.
