Dubai: More than 500 people embraced Islam during the first quarter of 2015, according to statistics released by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai (IACAD).

“Most of these Muslims learnt about Islam through friends, books, visiting Islamic centres, or because they were moved by the Adhan and the good treatment they received here in the UAE,” said Yusra Al Gaood, head of the Department of Edification and Religious Guidance at IACAD.

The New Muslims Section organises Islamic information programmes and interfaith dialogue activities in public places such as shopping malls and community centres.
