Dubai: Fifty couples tied the knot on Tuesday at a mass wedding ceremony held at The Westin Dubai.

The event was sponsored by the Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Foundation (KAHF) in collaboration with an Arabic newspaper, under an initiative called ‘The Wedding of Giving.”

The initiative, which is in conjunction with the ‘Year of Giving’, marks the second time that the KAHF has supported a mass wedding ceremony.

The event included 50 low- to middle-income couples, and was attended by Shaikh Mansour Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, along with several ministers, directors of departments and state institutions in Dubai.

Senior figures at state-owned charity organisations and the families of the young couples getting married were at the event.

“We are pleased to organise the collective wedding ceremony for our sons and daughters, especially in the Year of Giving. It is important that we uphold and promote the values of marriage, as well as our cultural values. This is important for the continuity of our country,” said Khalaf Al Habtoor, Founding Chairman, Al Habtoor Group, who donated Dh2,000,000 to the newly-weds.

Loai Hamad, the manager of Lumiere Skin Clinic in Abu Dhabi, provided the couples services worth Dh500,000, while other companies provided everything from shoes to men’s kandoras.
