DUBAI Hindu couples keen to get married may have to wait for over a year as astrologers claim there is no auspicious wedding date available for them between July 2015 and August 2016.
Mahendra Pandya, President of the Gujarat-based Akhil Gujarat Astrological Society, told XPRESS from India the society convened a meeting to discuss the subject in Mehsana on February 14.
He said over 300 astrologers from Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan who attended the meeting agreed that it was inauspicious for Hindu couples to tie the knot between July 2015 and August 2016 as the planet Jupiter was not favourably aligned during this period.
Planetary positioning
“Marriages that take place at an inauspicious time can end up in marital disputes and family conflicts. There will be no peace of mind,” he said.
But all is not lost. If unavoidable, there is a way out for couples who want to get married during the ‘no-go’ months.
“They will have to perform a special ritual and fix a date between April 14 and May 15, 2016,” said Pandya.
Manish Trivedi, an astrologer in Dubai, said the positioning of the planets Jupiter and Venus during the coming months will narrow down options for fixing a wedding date.
“It must be remembered that all dates are not suitable for all. It all depends on the couple’s horoscopes. But generally speaking, our panchang (calendar) shows there is no auspicious date after June 14. The next good date is November 26, subject to what the couple’s horoscopes have to say.”
Sharjah-based Paresh Bora said: “Astrology is the science of predictions but at the end of the day, it is matter of interpretation. It is a case of different strokes for different folks. There will always be dates that good and dates that are better.”
