The Ras Al Khaimah Government has allocated land to build a branch of the Zayed University, said a senior government official.

Sheikh Omar bin Saqr Al Qasimi, head of the Financial Control Department, said that the land was very large which means that the new Ras Al Khaimah branch of the Zayed University will be very big, too.

Sheikh Omar was speaking on Saturday at the graduation ceremony of 82 students at the Ras Al Khaimah Men's Colleges.

He said that the Ras Al Khaimah Government has taken the move to encourage the educational process and to provide students with the most advanced educational opportunities.

He also called on the UAE National University in Al Ain to open a branch in Ras Al Khaimah.

Sheikh Omar noted that there is complete coordination between the Ras Al Khaimah Government and the Higher Colleges of Technology and that the government has been exerting all possible efforts to provide the colleges with their requirements.

He stressed that Higher Colleges of Technology graduates are well qualified and that the UAE needs to accommodate them in the different departments.

Majed Al Souri, Vice-Chairman of the Student's Union, noted that at least 85 per cent of the graduates are planning to carry out their higher education to obtain diplomas in their fields.

He added that a total of 440 students have graduated from the emirate's Men's Colleges in the past five years, and that the number of students admitted has been increasing.
