Dubai: The Indian community in Dubai is all set to join compatriates around the world in commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of one of the most revered Indian scholars and spiritual teachers, Swami Vivekananda.

The sage is known for his inspiring vision and teachings and introducing the Indian philosophies of yoga and vedanta to western countries.

Indian voluntary community group ‘Friends of India’, in association with the Consulate General of India, is hosting a ceremony called ‘Vivek 150’ to pay tribute to the life and works of Swami Vivekananda. The event will to take place on January 12, at the Shaikh Rashid Auditorium, Indian High School.

Dr. Bhagwati Prakash Sharma, pro-president, Pacific University, Udaipur will share his views on ‘Vivekananda’s Thoughts on Integral Humanism’. The inaugural event kicks off a year of activities, including lectures, teachings, competitions for children and dramas and musicals on Swami Vivekananda’s life, to be held throughout Dubai.
