Dubai Emiratis can apply for a good conduct certificate and get it in 10 minutes, all electronically.
Col Khalid Nasser Al Razouqi, General Director of Smart Services at Dubai Police, said this certificate is one of the most requested security certificates.
He said that they are working on making this service available for everyone in the UAE.
To make the certificate available in 10 minutes, Al Razouqi explained that they had “to do a re-engineering of all the processes in Dubai Police. We had four different security communities that would verify the [good conduct certificate] applicant … we automated the whole process”.
20 applications a day
They get an average of 20 applications a day through the app.
He said that Dubai Police is the first police force to issue an electronically signed document that does not require any stamp.
The applicant receives the certificate in their email after filling out a form and paying – through the app- and they can simply print out the letter.
“There is a security code, which one can input online and the reference number will tell you that it is an electronically issued certificate and that it is verified,” he said.
Big step
This was the first and biggest step towards smart service.
“Everything we do now is based on this.”
There are cases, he said, where people have cases against them or the person is not well-verified, so, in order to not compromise the security aspect, they take it through a manual process.
“This happens only 40 per cent of the time,” Col Al Razouqi said.
He said that most consulates and embassies accept the e-certificate.
